Held close to his heart, the Air Max 97 is more than just a shoe for London’s grime artist and pioneer Skepta. Forever connected to his youth and the culture of his hometown, it was the first pair of sneakers he saved for and bought on his own. Treasured and always in his visibility – sat at the bottom of his bed night after night - Nike’s design is brought back to life via Skepta’s home away from the capital city, Marrakech. Dubbed the Air Max 97 “Sk”, the colour palette and embroidered elements show the artists appreciation for its unique look and colour-changing properties – all inspired by Morroco. Patterned with textures found whilst exploring the marketplaces, the ‘Sk’ follows the sneakers foundations whilst reminiscing what would of reminded him of home.
